The RFU has confirmed the end of the 2019/20 season for all clubs below the Gallagher Premiership. This decision sees a conclusion to the season for our Menís and Womenís Senior sides, our Youth and Mini sections and our Mixed Ability group. Whilst this is hugely disappointing, with leagues and cups still to play for, the safety of our members and our wider community must always come first, and we fully support the position taken. Therefore, there will be no rugby activity taking place at Harpenden RFC until further notice, and any resumption will be based on Government and then RFU advice.
This move sees a cancellation of all existing fixtures, both in League and Cup competitions at all age groups, as well as all training activity. It will also see the traditional end of season events, such as awards evenings and dinners postponed, and at the appropriate time, new dates will be confirmed and circulated for club wide activities to celebrate what has been a brilliant, if slightly abbreviated season. We are waiting on confirmation from the authorities as to where all of our teams finish in their respective leagues and age group competitions - this will of course be circulated and hopefully celebrated accordingly.
A full review of the year, involving all sections and age groups is currently being undertaken, and will be published for members across the club very soon. Until we have more information to offer, we would like to thank all of the players, coaches, refs, volunteers and parents that have made season 2019/20 another special one in the history of Harpenden RFC.
Stay safe, and look after one another.
