Harpenden Rugby Football Club (HRFC), based on Redbourn Lane, Harpenden is thrilled to announce a new partnership with (Padel Pass UK) to bring the world’s fastest-growing sport, padel tennis, to Harpenden!
With over 100,000 active players, Padel tennis is one of the fastest growing and most social sports available. Easy-to-learn, Padel combines elements of tennis and squash. Played in doubles format, on an enclosed court about a third the size of a tennis court, the game features walls that the ball can bounce off, creating fast and thrilling rallies. The sport emphasises strategy and teamwork over power, making it perfect for both beginners and seasoned athletes.
Why HRFC and Why Padel Pass?
Whilst many reading will know of the club it would be wrong to assume all are fully aware of the club’s development over recent years. The growth of sport at HRFC transformed with the arrival of a RFU360 all-weather pitch in 2018. Now the most utilised multi-sport AGP in the country, the club has been developing its facilities beyond rugby for our 2,000+ members, hosting football, GAA, Lacrosse. Our vast car parking facility provides ease of use and accessibility from Harpenden, Redbourn and other surrounding towns and villages.
Padel Pass is a Harpenden-born padel tennis company. Founded by passionate locals, Jack Howe, Tom Howe, George Howe, and Alex March. With deep roots in the town’s sporting community and extensive expertise in padel, HRFC felt confident that the Padel Pass team shared our vision to create vibrant spaces where people can connect through sport. Their commitment to quality, community, and accessibility makes them the ideal partner to help us bring padel to Harpenden.
Subject to planning permission, Padel Pass will build four canopy-covered padel courts at Harpenden Rugby Club, creating one of the finest padel facilities in Hertfordshire. This partnership will not only enhance our facilities but also help generate funds to reinvest into our existing amenities.
The Padel Pass team commented “We’re incredibly excited to bring padel tennis to Harpenden Rugby Club. Since launching Padel Pass, our mission has been to establish a high-quality padel facility in our hometown. Partnering with such a well-respected and renowned local club fills us with great pride. We can’t wait to build an amazing padel facility in partnership with one of the country’s top amateur rugby clubs!”
David Horsley, Chairman of Harpenden Rugby Football Club, said: “Our partnership with Padel Pass is part of a series of truly exciting developments taking place at HRFC. When you combine their expertise with our facilities, our shared values with our shared intent to develop sport for our community it made the decision to partner with Padel Pass very straightforward. This will not only provide our existing members with access to a fantastic new facility but will continue to strengthen our community ties and support Harpenden Town Council’s strategy to develop sport and wellbeing in Harpenden”.
