A club like ours thrives due to the enthusiasm of its volunteers and supporters.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Few were as enthusiastic and passionate as “Scottish” Steve, as he was affectionately known by all who knew him.⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ In a drive to get more senior players to training “The Man of Beef” was coined, a monthly steak night on a Thursday evening with an extra large piece of meat for the best trainer over the preceding weeks. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣

Who was the man to offer up his time to cook steak for all the lads? It was Steve. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣

His steak nights became the stuff of legend, often well over 50 people sat down to a perfectly cooked sirloin. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ His friendliness and generosity spread onto the terraces, where his unmistakable brogue could be heard encouraging both men’s and women’s teams in equal measure on match days. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣

Recently he left Harpenden to move back to his native Scotland to pursue his dreams of running a hotel and restaurant. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣

The thoughts of the club go out to his family and friends at this incredibly sad time.⁣⁣⁣
